Getting Started on Refactr - Build Your First Reusable Pipeline

In this video, we will show you how to sign up for the Refactr Platform, then create and run a simple pipeline. The Refactr Platform allows you to build, run, and manage cybersecurity solutions easily with DevOps workflows. Watch the video above or follow the steps below to get started:
  1. On our home page click “try for free” and fill out our form
  2. Once completed you will receive an email inviting you to the platform
  3. You'll be brought to the signup page where you can create a new account
  4. After logging in, you’ll see an initial project. A project is a logical grouping of pipelines, run history, jobs, and runners with associated role-based access control
  5. The pipeline catalog contains several pre-built example pipelines that you can clone into your project, which you can then modify to suit your needs and/or include in other pipelines or just execute them as-is
For this video, we are going to create a new pipeline
  1. Step modules are the basic building blocks of a pipeline, each module has a different use and purpose.
  2. Let’s start by adding an HTTP step that will make a test API call to and return some sample JSON data
  3. Next, we’ll add a debug step that extracts a property from the response JSON and prints it
  4. Save the pipeline, and then run it by clicking the "run" button. On the run page, you can observe the console output of most commands, and you can also see the property that we printed in the debug message step
And, that's it. That's how you can create and run a simple pipeline in just a few easy steps using Refactr!
